In exercise Parkano24, we will once again challenge each other as volunteers!
In the beautiful natural surroundings of the Kaidatvedet, relying on the Parkano Forest Museum area, the main exercise of the 60th anniversary of Vapepa will be celebrated in the spirit of search, mental support, and leadership activities in Northwest Pirkanmaa.
The exercise will focus on mastering basic methods and participating in the operation as a real-life simulation. The command post will use the Map Himeli application to maintain the situational awareness. Before the exercise, a webinar training on the application will be provided for group leaders, command post operators, and Vapepa leaders.
PRELIMINARY SCHEDULE
08:00 The command post receives the preliminary task of the day’s exercise, and the command post opens.
09:00 Morning coffee is served, and general registration begins.
09:15 Training stations cover the search methods and other necessary skills used in the exercise (4x15min stations, nonstop until 12:00 for those interested).
10:00 The command post is authorized to begin deploying personnel to tasks.
11-13:00 Lunch is served at Parkano Forest Museum logging cabin (lunch staggered according to task pressure).
16-17:00 Cold dinner / Sausage grill / Coffee served at the logging cabin.
17:30 The exercise phase ends, and participants gather at the command post.
17:35 Feedback discussion and mental debriefing of the exercise. 18-18:30 Exercise concludes.
The exercise is free for participants. Accommodation support may be available for those coming from afar; please contact the exercise organizer separately for this. Transportation from Parkano Train Station to the exercise location and back is available upon request (Note: please specify the train you intend to arrive/depart on).
Pre-registration is requested for the following roles for the exercise:
- Participating Vapepa leaders: 3
- Operation First Aid Volunteer, leader of the exercise’s safety first aid department: 1
- First Aid Coordinator
- Traffic Control Person
Later registration will open for the following roles:
- Terrain Searcher
- Search Group Leader (Terrain Leader)
- Command Post Operator
- Mental Support Volunteer
- First Aid Volunteer
- First Aid Support Volunteer (exercise catering support, command post support)
